Unplugged: Air Guitar gets a major change: support for VR controllers. Vertigo Games is also adding 25 new songs.
Unplugged: Air guitar is the best example of a a control system that is fully adapted to hand tracking. In the VR rhythm game Meta Quest (2) and SteamVR, you rock virtual stages with an air guitar. The development team at Anotherway has so far gone without additional controllers and designed the title exclusively for bare-handed play.
In our Unplugged: Air Guitar test, the hand control of the VR air guitar was almost perfect. Even the missing feeling of a real guitar is cleverly solved. However, VR controllers are now also supported.
The controller improves accessibility
The Meta Quest and SteamVR versions have received free updates that provide alternative guitar control with VR controllers. With that, studio and virtual reality publisher Vertigo Games wants to increase availability.
Hand tracking works great, but it still needs certain things to work perfectly, like perfect lighting or even a standard hand (not everyone has 5 perfect fingers). Some users struggled with it and we wanted them to enjoy the game too.

On SteamVR, Unplugged: Air Guitar also supports Rift S, Vive Pro VR headsets, and headsets like the HP Reverb G2 and their VR controllers since the “Take Control” update.
The meta update from Quest 2 to Hand Tracking 2.0 has resulted in significant accuracy improvements. If hand tracking hasn’t worked for you so far, it might be worth giving it another try.
Unplugged: Air Guitar presents new songs
The free update also adds over 25 new tracks to the playlist. Vertigo Games hasn’t released a track list, but there is a new overview of the track highlights. Previously, paid DLC brought greats like Pantera, Muse, Slayer and Rob Zombie into the game.
