Internet service tech allegedly grabbed woman in Brevard home

An AT&T service technician is in jail Tuesday after police say he mugged a customer at her home. Devon Bell, 59, is charged with attempted sexual assault, burglary, false imprisonment and battery. Police were called to a home in West Melbourne at Monday for attempted sexual activity. The resident said Bell was at her home to fix a problem with the internet router in her bedroom. Police say Bell asked the victim to sit on her bed and approached the woman until he groped her and physically forced her to touch him. She recorded part of the encounter on her phone, which confirmed her story to officers. Investigators identified Bell as the man seen in the resident’s video. Police said Bell confessed when officers presented him with evidence. Bell is in the Brevard County Jail on a $52,500 bond. He had no known criminal history prior to the alleged attempted possession, according to West Melbourne Police. An AT&T spokesperson sent WESH 2 News the following statement regarding the arrest: “We are deeply troubled by these appalling allegations. The trust of our customers is critical to our operations. We screen, hire and train employees to uphold that trust. This employee is clearly violated our standards of conduct and has been fired. Our thoughts are with the victim and we are assisting law enforcement in their investigation.”Police believe Bell may have more victims.
